EDUCATION
Education in today’s society is a controversial topic which is debated among the government and has many different viewpoints. There are many different forms of education and many different tiers of education. In this day and age, there is a particularly large argument on the amount of money that is put into education and how much it is worth investing more of the United States budget in.
The current average teacher pay of a typical high school teacher is approximately $55,360, which varies more or less in each state. The teacher pay decreases as it goes into middle school and elementary school teaching levels. Teachers spend roughly 782 hours teaching in primary education, 704 in lower secondary education and 658 hours in upper secondary education. On average, throughout all twelve grade levels, a student receives approximately 9,436 hours of teaching. This teaching takes a tremendous amount of time and effort by the teachers alone to make sure that students get the proper education needed to succeed in the “real” world. If it were not for the teachers sacrificing their lives then there would be no education, which is the cause for all inventions and ideas that have been and will be created. If I am elected into office as President I will raise the salary of teachers by five percent of their current average income. This would open up the door to a better education for the students and as a result of this the economy would benefit greatly in the future because of the increase in education. In the future, when the education has fully increased, many more jobs will be opened and more students would have become better educated.
Another topic in education that I would make better is the type of curriculum taught and who determines what is taught. In previous years it has been the Federal Government that has paved the way for education and how the classroom should be operated. However, it should be the states that are left with the responsibility of deciding the education curriculum for their system. The government has imposed Common Core which is a new standard for many states where the curriculum has completely changed from what has been previously taught and been accepted as proper learning. I believe that all schools, both private and public, should revert back to the previous curriculum because it was just as effective as Common Core. Having great knowledge of Common Core and the major change that has occurred as a result of it has had a negative impact on the way students learn. Reverting back to the traditional curriculum would be much more beneficial to students and would go back to the effectiveness of the old system. Referring back to including this change to private schools would not be required because they are privately funded but it would be recommended that they follow the same path as public schools because it is so efficient.
Education is significant part in the success of our country and for the future of our country. The best investments and measures should be taken in education because it has such an impact on the United States. By being elected President of this great nation, I would do my best to ensure that these policies become enacted.
