Foreign Policy
Foreign Policy in recent years has not been so stable and many believe that the United States international respect has decreased. For those who may not know exactly what it means, foreign policy is the government’s strategy for how we deal with other nations. These include things such as war, alliances in war, and policies with other countries.
As far as alliances our concerned, the United States will not enter any form of alliance if they have opposing views or have had recent disagreements or trust issues with the country. By this we mean, if we have had any troubles in economic or social issues with a country we will not enter an alliance with them prior to a certain time period that has been reached. However, if the that particular country is in dire need of support during a war, against a common enemy, the United States shall temporarily assist them. This is only the case if we think we can help them defeat that common enemy.
When it comes to creating alliances, we shall create alliances only with the countries that we trust and that have similar views as us. However, this is not the only determining factor on whether or not they should be our allies. The president, as well as his cabinet, should review all policies that have been made in the past by that country and their leader. In addition, they should review previous and current alliances, and ensure that the country’s economy is stable and appears that it will stay that way throughout the commitment the United States puts in them. We do not want to get into an alliance that will backfire and have a negative reflection on our country.
In relation to war, the United States will and should try to avoid any means of war. Whether it is a civil war or a war with another country. This means that no matter how much we disagree with their decisions, we should avoid war at all costs. I think this is beneficial to the country because it not only keeps peace among the nations, it saves the United States large amounts of resources and lives. The reasons we enter war are simple and straightforward. We enter war if the cause directly impacts the safety of our citizens or the success of the United States of America.
Ending an alliance with a country is a very fragile topic but needs to be addressed. We, the United States, would only break an alliance if it was absolutely necessary. We would break an alliance in the case of a nation or country changing their governmental beliefs to a set that we don’t support. We would do that because we said we would not be in an alliance with a country that has a different belief system, therefore giving us a reason to break the alliance. We would also will break an alliance if it is hurting our country in a very bad way. Another way is an alliance pulling the United States into wars that are unnecessary, this will hurt our economy. This will also affect the United States and give it a bad image if they are always in war and having problems with another nation which is a look we would not want to have.
